Veteran Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty will be honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav shared this news on Twitter. He said that the veteran actor is being honored with the prestigious award for his remarkable cinematic journey and contribution to Indian cinema.

Honored to announce that the Dadasaheb Phalke Selection Jury has decided to award the legendary actor Shri Mithun Chakraborty ji for his iconic contribution to Indian cinema". Mithun Chakraborty will be honored with this award at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony to be held on 8 October 2024.

Mithun Chakraborty gave his reaction on being honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Mithun Chakraborty said, "I have no words. Neither can I laugh nor cry. This is such a big thing. I had not even imagined it. I am extremely happy. I dedicate it to my family and my fans around the world".

Mithun Chakraborty's son and actor Namashi Chakraborty shared his happiness on his father's big achievement and said that he is proud of him. Let us tell you that the news of Mithun Chakraborty getting the Dadasaheb Phalke Award has come just a few months after he was honored with the Padma Bhushan. The ceremony took place in April and the actor was seen accepting the honor from President Draupadi Murmu. Mithun Chakraborty expressed his heartfelt gratitude for receiving the Padma Bhushan Award from President Draupadi Murmu. Talking to the media, Mithun said, "I am very happy. I have never asked anyone for anything in my life. I am very happy because when someone gets so much honor and respect. So it is the happiest moment. When I got a call from the Home Ministry that I am being honored with the Padma Bhushan, I became silent for a minute because I did not expect it".

Mithun Chakraborty's career

Mithun Chakraborty started his acting career in 1977 and became one of the few actors to win a National Award with his first film. Mithun Chakraborty came into the limelight after the release of his film Disco Dancer in 1982. In the last few years, he has worked in many films. These include films like Agneepath, Mujhe Insaaf Chahiye, Hum Se Hai Zamana, Pasand Apni Apni, Ghar Ek Mandir and Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki. In recent years, he appeared in films like OMG: Oh My God. He also appeared as a judge in the TV show 'Dance India Dance'. Now the actor is fully active in politics and is also known as a BJP leader.
