Mithun Chakraborty's ex-wife Helena Luke passed away at the age of 68

Mithun Chakraborty's first wife and actress Helena Luke died at the age of 68 in America on Sunday, 3 November 2024. Dancer and actress Kalpana Iyer shared the news of her death on social media.

Let us tell you that Helena Luke was popular for her role in Amitabh Bachchan's 1985 film Mard. She was married to Mithun Chakraborty for four months, but their marriage broke within four months. Helena made her last post on Facebook at 9:20 am on Sunday, in which she wrote, "Feeling strange. Mixed emotions and don't know why, restless."

In an old interview, Helena had called her four-year-old marriage with Mithun a 'hazy dream'. She had told Stardust magazine, "I wish it wasn't so, he brainwashed me into thinking he was the right man for me, unfortunately, he succeeded." At that time, there were rumours of her reconciliation with Mithun Chakraborty, but the actress had said, "I will never go back to him, even if he is the richest man. I didn't even ask for alimony, it was a nightmare, and it's over."

Mithun, on the other hand, had promised Helena's father that he would treat her like the '9th wonder of the world', but he would leave her alone. She further said in the interview, "When he told me that he loved me, I really believed him. But when I got to know him better, I realized that he loved no one else but himself. He was extremely immature, and although I was several years younger than him, I felt much older than him. He was extremely possessive and would accuse me of secretly meeting my ex-boyfriend Javed. I would get very angry trying to explain to him that I had not met him, but was not successful in overcoming his deeply suspicious nature. Only later did I realize that he was feeling guilty. He was doing stupid things behind my back and he thought I was doing the same."

Helena Luke's Career

Helena Luke was an Indo-American actress best known for her roles in Bollywood films in the 1980s, including Mard and Do Gulab. She was the first wife of Mithun Chakraborty, although their marriage ended after just four months in 1979. Helena later moved to the United States, where she settled down and worked in the airline industry. Despite her brief film career and short-lived marriage, she is remembered for her contributions to Hindi cinema.
