“Current ko current nahin lagtaa !! ”, she exclaims with ethnic swag!  Brilliant star actress Monika Panwal who plays the young, feisty, hired-surrogate mother (‘Jasmine’) in this maverick entertaining social thriller ‘Dukaan’ has put in such a sensitive endearing yet realistic performance that she has emerged as the darling-Maa of the theatre-audiences.

A galaxy of over 30 Bollywood celebs-artistes, film-makers, composers, and stunning models attended the late evening star-studded premiere of writers-lyricists and now debut director-duo Siddharth Singh-Garima Wahal’s maverick social thriller movie ‘Dukaan’. Invariably almost all of them heavily praised the impactful performance of the entire cast but particularly appreciated the on-screen spontaneous acting talent of Monika Panwal. Some of them even referred to Monika as the ‘modern Mother –India’. Even in her previous movie ‘Mast Mein Rehne Ka’ (2023) starring Jackie Shroff and Neena Gupta, the NSD graduate Monika ---( next she will be seen in a contrast-role in supernatural thriller ‘Khauf’ on Amazon Prime )--- had given a classic performance as a charming yet gutsy, bold beggar-girl !.

They also showered praise on the excellent direction, candid dialogues, colorful ethnic costumes, and the performance of  Monali Thakur,  Soham Majumdar, Sikandar Kher ( cameo role) Himani Shivpuri, Bhoomika Meena, and Vrajesh Hirrjee. Dukaan’s visual storytelling screen grandeur has apparent streaks of influence of  Sanjay Leela Bhansali's signature style of showmanship, as was evident in most of his landmark movies.. which have ethnic culture as a backdrop.

Sunny Deol

The pleasant shock-surprise was the brief presence of Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol at the ‘Dukaan’  premiere. While Sunny Deol is close to Siddharth and Garima since they had written the lyrics for his home production ‘Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas’,  the ‘Gadar’ mega-star has also put in a noteworthy cameo in ‘Dukaan’ playing himself where he warns nasty people to treat women who rent their wombs with respect and not as servants. Even as he says this, Sunny-paaji flashes his ‘dhaai kilo ka haath’. Since Siddharth as Garima was also associated with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga as a lyricists for  ‘Satranga’ song in mega-hit ‘Animal’, it was not surprising that well-wisher Bobby also turned up and mingled with the celeb guests.

Besides Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, and the cast and crew of the movie,  the galaxy of celeb guests at the star-studded Dukaan premiere ( co-produced by charismatic Shikha K. Ahluwalia ) at Cinepolis Theatre included Chunky Pandey, Shriya Saran, Sohail Khan. Suresh Wadkar, Indra Kumjar, Milap Zaveri, Sandeep Singh, Anu Malik, and glam-model-actresses Akanksha Puri, Satrupa Pyne,  Bhagyashree Chauhan, Shivangi Negi, Taniya Gupta, Aavya Gupta, Megha Kaur, Neha Shukla,  Megha Jalui, Anaya Soni, anchor-actress Harsha Richhariya and many more.
