Mouni recently revealed the incident of molestation that happened to her during an event held in Karnal, Haryana. The actress shared her experience on Instagram Stories, in which she said that as she moved towards the stage, several men of the family touched her waist on the pretext of taking a photo and made lewd comments and obscene hand gestures towards her.

Mouni Roy alleges harassment at Haryana wedding

In fact, Mouni Roy alleged on Instagram Stories that elderly men, under the pretext of taking photos, touched her inappropriately and made lewd comments and obscene hand gestures. She wrote, "Last time I was at an event in Karnal, I was very upset by the behavior of the guests, especially two uncles who were as old as my grandparents. As the event began and I approached the stage, the uncles and family members (all men) started putting their hands on my waist to take photos. When I said, 'Sir, please remove your hands,' I didn't like it. The story is even more interesting on stage. Two uncles were standing right in front of me, making lewd comments, making obscene hand gestures, and calling me names. I realized this and first gently gestured to them to stop, at which point they started throwing roses at me. In the middle of the performance, I went to the exit, but immediately returned to finish my performance."

Mouni Roy demanded action against this act.

While recalling the incident, Mouni Roy further wrote, "They didn't stop after that, and no family or organizer removed them from the scene. If someone like me has to go through this, I can only imagine what new girls just starting out and doing shows must be going through. I am embarrassed and shocked and want the authorities to take action against this intolerable behavior. We are artists trying to earn an honest living through our work. I wonder what these people would do if their friends treated their daughters, sisters, or family members this way. Shame on you!"

Additionally, Mouni Roy also alleged that while she was performing on stage, elderly men filmed videos from a low angle. “It should also be noted that the stage was elevated, and this uncle was filming from a low angle. When someone asked him to stop, he hurled abuses. I love my country, my people, my traditions, but this audacity? The right to be a man. I never share any negative things I go through. But I'm at a loss for words. There's no expression or abuse that can explain this behavior. We actors go to these events to wish the bride and groom so that their celebrations are even better. We're their guests, and they harass us like this. Yuck.”
