Not Shahrukh Khan but this actor was Farhan Akhtar's first choice for Don

Bollywood's multi-talented Farhan Akhtar is in the news these days for his upcoming film Don-3. Ranveer Singh will be seen in this film instead of Shahrukh Khan. Farhan Akhtar took Shahrukh Khan as the title character in the first part i.e. Don, which was released in 2006. But do you know that Farhan Akhtar's first choice for Don was not Shahrukh but some other actor?

This is how Shahrukh got the film, Don

In fact, Farhan Akhtar recalled during the interview that, “Hrithik and I worked on Lakshya and we had an incredible, wonderful time working together. So I approached Hrithik and said, 'I am going to remake Don.' He said, 'Sounds great yaar!' I said, 'Let me write it and I will bring it to you.' So he said, 'Okay.' When I was writing, the only thing that was coming to my mind was Shah Rukh's face, as far as I knew him. We had spent some time together, hanging out in a party here and there with some common friends in Delhi. So the way he was, not his cinematic image, but his personality, his wit, his slightly sarcastic sense of humor, self-deprecation, he can make fun of himself. When I was writing, I felt this guy is the best actor for this character”. 

Hrithik Roshan gave this advice to Farhan Akhtar

Farhan Akhtar continued, “But I had already told Hrithik Roshan my point. So I called Hrithik and told him, 'I am writing the film that I talked to you about. But the more I am writing, I feel that I should approach Shah Rukh for this film. I will never forget, he said, 'Farhan, you have to make your film, and in the best way. If you think Shah Rukh is the right person for it, please go ahead and call him. Don't worry about me.' This is a very nice thing”. Not only this, Hrithik Roshan did a cameo in Don 2 (2011) in disguise of Shah Rukh's character.

Let us tell you that Ranveer Singh will be seen in Don 3 instead of Shahrukh Khan. Kiara Advani will be seen playing the lead role with him in this film. The film Don 3 will be released in the year 2025. At the same time, King Khan's fans are a little disappointed with Ranveer Singh being cast instead of Shahrukh Khan in Don 3. Many fans refused to accept Ranveer as the new Don, after which film director Farhan Akhtar broke his silence on trolling and controversy.

Farhan Akhtar gave this reaction on casting Ranveer Singh in Don 3

Director Farhan Akhtar spoke about casting Ranveer as the new Don. He revealed how Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan were also keen to replace him and had to go through a similar experience when Shah Rukh replaced the senior Bachchan as Don. Farhan Akhtar said, "I am really looking forward to it. I mean Ranveer Singh is amazing. He is great for the role. As you can imagine, he is also really excited and really nervous, you are filling some big shoes in front of you. But when Shah Rukh did it, we went through the same emotional process and everyone said, 'Oh my god, how can you replace Mr Bachchan?' That's when the whole incident happened."
