PM Modi's Heartfelt Letter To Manoj Kumar's Wife: Veteran late actor and film director Manoj Kumar passed away on 4 April 2025 at the age of 87. This news came as a big shock to all the countrymen. Stars, including fans and the Prime Minister of the country, paid tribute to Manoj Kumar. At the same time, a few days after the death of Manoj Kumar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote a letter to his wife, Shashi Goswami. In his letter, PM Modi condoled the death of Manoj Kumar and called it a huge loss for the Indian film industry.

In the letter, Narendra Modi also mentioned Manoj Kumar's contribution to the film industry and said that Manoj gave life to India's freedom struggle. In the letter, PM Modi wrote, "Through films, veteran actor and director Shri Manoj Kumar portrayed India's pride in an impressive way. Many of his films played an important role in strengthening the spirit of nationalism in the minds of citizens. On the one hand, his films gave life to the freedom struggle of this country; on the other hand, his films also inspired people to create a better tomorrow for their country".

 PM Modi had taken to his X handle to condole the death of Manoj Kumar. In his post, PM Modi called Kumar an "icon" of Indian cinema and paid tribute to the actor. "Deeply saddened by the demise of legendary actor and filmmaker Shri Manoj Kumar ji. He was an icon of Indian cinema who was particularly remembered for his patriotic fervour, which was reflected in his films. Manoj Ji's works ignited a sense of national pride and will continue to inspire generations. My condolences are with his family and fans in this hour of grief. Om Shanti," PM Modi wrote.

Manoj Kumar was one of the most popular actors of the 60s and 70s. He is known for acting in and directing films with patriotic themes. The cause of Manoj Kumar's death was diagnosed as acute myocardial infarction, cardiogenic shock caused by a severe heart attack. Some of the veteran actor's popular works include Shaheed (1965), Upkaar (1967), Purba Aur Paschim (1970), and Roti Kapda Aur Makaan (1974). He came to be known as 'Bharat Kumar' due to his acting in films with nationalism themes. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1992 and then the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2015.
