Rajpal Yadav: On Monday, the Delhi High Court granted interim relief to Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav, giving his lawyer until 3 pm to deposit a demand draft of ₹1.5 crore in the name of the respondent in the cheque bounce case. The actor has now been granted bail by the court. The court had previously clarified that if the demand draft was submitted by the deadline, Rajpal Yadav would be released on interim bail. This entire case dates back to 2010, when Rajpal Yadav took a loan of approximately ₹5 crore from M/s Murali Projects Private Limited to produce his directorial debut film, Aata Pata Lapata. The complainant company alleges that several checks issued to repay the amount bounced, following which a case was filed against Rajpal Yadav and a company associated with him under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act. During the trial, the Karkardooma Court issued several notices to Rajpal Yadav, but he failed to appear in court for a long time. In 2013, he was sent to judicial custody for 10 days. He spent four days in jail from December 3 to 6, 2013. Later, a division bench of the Delhi High Court suspended his sentence on his appeal. Rajpal's sentence was temporarily stayed.
