Dr. S. Kamal Haasan expressed his grief over the loss of his ex, writing, "Robo Shankar, Robo is just a pseudonym. In my dictionary, you are a human being. Therefore, my younger brother. So, will you leave me? You are gone, your work is done. My work is incomplete. You are leaving tomorrow for us. Therefore, tomorrow is ours."

Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin expressed grief over the death of Robo Shankar on X. His post in Tamil on X read, "We paid our respects to him by laying a wreath on his mortal remains at his residence. Brother Robo Shankar was truly amazing, starting his journey as a stage artist, achieving success on the small screen, and entertaining Tamil audiences with his realistic humor in films."

Robo Shankar is survived by his wife Priyanka Shankar, daughter Indraja and son-in-law Karthik.

Shankar, a native of Madurai, earned the nickname "Robo" for his robot-style dance moves. After appearing in several small roles in the 2000s, he starred in several films, including "Viswasam" with Ajith, "Maari" with Dhanush, "Velainu Vandutha Vellikaran" with Vishnu Vishal, and "Singam 3" with Surya. Thanks to his comedic timing and unique body language, Robo Shankar was subsequently cast in several popular Tamil films, such as Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara and Vaayai Moodi Pesavum.
