It has been three years since veteran actor Dilip Kumar left the world. On the occasion of his third death anniversary, his wife and former co-star Saira Banu shared a long note on Instagram.

Saira Banu wrote this about Dilip Kumar

Saira Banu also shared an emotional note along with pictures of Dilip Kumar on Instagram. Sharing the post, she wrote, "I am expressing my love through this note to thank all his loved ones, admirers, well-wishers, dear friends and family members who take the trouble to send us lovely messages on every occasion. I am glad that they all remember our important dates and pray for them, as Dilip Sahab is an inspiration for six generations of actors and generations to come.

Dilip Kumar suffered from severe insomnia

Saira Banu further wrote, "Sahab has been the best friend of India's first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru sahab, Atal Bihari Vajpayee sahab, Narasimha Rao sahab as well as leading lawyers, economists and industrialists, etc. He has been a staunch supporter of sportspersons. He played football and cricket with great ease. In fact, he wanted to be a national-level player, not what fate had decided for him. See, Sahab was the greatest actor of all time. He had everything, yet very few people know that he suffered from severe insomnia. Before our marriage, even after taking pills, he used to stay awake till morning. However, once we got married and became indispensable to each other, he started sleeping on time. He also gave me a cute nickname, and lovingly said, "Saira, you are my sleeping pill, you are my pillow". Even today, I laugh remembering the charm with which he used to say this.

Dilip Kumar was very fond of music

Saira Banu further wrote, "Another memorable incident was when he wrote me a note. He was very fond of music and would often hold a full darbar in our house to watch the magic created by the artists. Sahab, always very skillfully, would sneak out of the darbar to get some sleep. One such evening, despite sneaking out, he found himself unable to sleep without me. So, he wrote a note, which read, "Feeling sleepy, what do you suggest, Aunty? ...Yours 100%". He was a fun person, always laughing and calling me 'Aunty'. Yet, beneath the pranks, laughter, and those heartfelt notes, there was pure love hidden. Dilip Sahab is forever... May Allah keep him in His love and blessings... Amen".
