Why did the Delhi High Court dismiss the case?

On January 29, Justice Vikas Mahajan of the Delhi High Court dismissed Sameer Wankhede's petition on the grounds of territorial jurisdiction. The court held that the Delhi court was not the appropriate forum to hear the matter. However, the court granted Wankhede the relief of filing his case in the City Civil and Sessions Court in Dindoshi, Mumbai. The court also directed both parties to appear before the Mumbai court on February 12. This comes just days after the Delhi High Court dismissed Sameer's petition against Shah Rukh Khan's production house Red Chillies Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. and the OTT platform Netflix for allegedly defamatory portrayal of him in the web series "The Bads of Bollywood."

What is the connection with the 2021 cruise drug case?

Sameer Wankhede made headlines in 2021 when, as the NCB's zonal director, he led a raid on a cruise ship. Several people, including Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan, were arrested during this raid. However, in 2022, Aryan Khan was acquitted of all charges because the NCB found no evidence of drug possession or consumption against him. Wankhede believes that this series is an attempt to portray this entire incident from a controversial perspective and defame him.
