In fact, on Wednesday, August 21, SGPC chief Harjinder Singh Dhami, while addressing a press conference, demanded an FIR against Ranaut and objected to the film Emergency. He said that there have been many such incidents in the past when the sentiments of Sikhs have been hurt due to the wrong portrayal of the community in films. Demanding a ban on the film, he called the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) 'biased' and urged the inclusion of Sikh members in the censor board.

Kangana used abusive language against Punjabis

At the press conference, SGPC chief Harjinder Singh Dhami said, "I have not seen the film, but if any party fought the biggest battle during the Emergency, it was the Shiromani Akali Dal. Late Parkash Singh Badal was the first to lead the movement and was arrested along with others. The Akali Dal fought the hardest during the Emergency and faced many arrests. If Sikhs have not been portrayed correctly in the film, it could be because Kangana's role does not allow a proper portrayal of Sikhs. History shows that Kangana has used derogatory language against Punjabis, especially during the farmers' protests, which shows her bias."

Harjinder Singh Dhami, on the other hand, stressed that the Sikh community has made huge sacrifices for India's independence and their contribution to the country should be respected. He said, "This community stands like a shield on the borders and keeps the enemies away. If there is something in the film that can hurt Sikh sentiments, then it should first be shown to the SGPC and whatever is objectionable should be removed". Along with this, he also raised questions on the constant targeting of Sikhs and said, "If you talk about unity, then why do you always call Sikhs terrorists and why do you put NSA on the youth? This is the same community that sacrifices its life for the country".
