Delhi HC concludes hearings in Sunjay Kapur estate dispute

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, concluded hearings in the high-profile civil case concerning the personal assets of the late businessman Sanjay Kapoor. The court reserved its order on the interim injunction filed by his children from his previous marriage with actor Karisma Kapoor. Justice Jyoti Singh stated that oral arguments were complete and all written submissions had been formally taken on record. She added that "no further filings will be considered before the pronouncement of the order."

Priya Kapoor's lawyer dismissed the allegations. 

Senior advocate Rajiv Nayar, appearing for Priya Kapoor, denied the claim that assets were transferred abroad or concealed. He said that "a complete list of assets was filed, supported by financial records, corporate filings and affidavit disclosures" and termed the allegations of concealment as false. He also dismissed the claims about Sanjay Kapoor's annual income of ₹60 crore as false. This allegation was based on photographs taken from a fake social media account, not the deceased's real profile. All known assets were disclosed, and the format of the will was similar to the one made by Rani Kapoor in 2024.

Delhi High Court reserves verdict on Samaira and Kiaan's case 

Senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, appearing for Sanjay Kapoor's children Samaira and Kiaan, argued that the will contained discrepancies and suspicious details, including the use of feminine pronouns and the absence of the deceased's mother. He said Priya, being "both the proposer and sole beneficiary of the will", deserved a thorough investigation.

Rani Kapoor, through senior advocate Vaibhav Gaggar, challenged the will, saying it ignored her role in Sanjay's life and alleged that Priya had usurped control of the estate from Tej. She also questioned Sanjay Kapoor's stated asset value of ₹1.7 crore compared to his stated income. The legal battle involves assets worth approximately ₹30,000 crore. After all the submissions were on record, the Delhi High Court reserved its decision on the interim stay.
