“Many people are named Taimur. Saif Ali Khan is not the first person to name his son Taimur (Kareena Kapoor son). When I was shooting for 'The Tashkent Files' in Samarkand, I visited Taimur's tomb. It is clearly written there that he conquered the world's richest sultanate, i.e. Delhi Sultanate. But he refused to take the title of Badshah and said that he would not accept this title until he captured Delhi.

History has recorded that Timur invaded India in 1398. He attacked the Delhi Sultanate and killed lakhs of innocent people. According to historians, he massacred about one lakh people in a single night. Apart from this, his attack included incidents like looting, arson and atrocities against women. Vivek Agnihotri (The Bengal Files cast) said in this context – “He created a massacre from Delhi to Kashmir. He looted and raped on the way. Yes, he is considered a hero in his country, but for us he is a killer invader. Therefore, no Indian should name his child Timur. This question should not even arise.”
