While AI technology offers numerous benefits, it also poses significant risks, a concern that is increasingly troubling the intellectual community. Recently, the entertainment industry witnessed an alarming example of this threat. A picture of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s family went viral, accompanied by a fabricated story claiming that King Khan had converted his Hindu wife, Gauri, to Islam. The story spread with a picture of Shah Rukh, his wife Gauri, and their son Aryan Khan standing near the minarets outside the holy site of Mecca, engaging in a conversation.

Shah Rukh Khan's Family: A Beacon of Religious Harmony

It’s important to clarify that Shah Rukh Khan’s household has always been a symbol of religious harmony. There have never been any reports of religious disputes within his family. Shah Rukh, born a Muslim, follows his faith, while his wife Gauri, a Punjabi Hindu, celebrates Hindu festivals like Diwali and other religious traditions. Their children, Suhana Khan, Aryan Khan, and AbRam, have been brought up in an environment that respects all religions. The family celebrates both Eid and Diwali, with Gauri performing Diwali puja at home, while the family enjoys fireworks together. They even celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with an eco-friendly immersion.

This year, a new viral story shocked everyone, claiming that Shah Rukh had taken Gauri to Mecca and had her convert to Islam. The photo, which was shared on social media, led to disappointment among his fans. Technical experts soon began analyzing the image, revealing that it was a deepfake created using AI technology.

Shah Rukh and Gauri’s relationship is a result of love and mutual respect. They fell in love first and married in 1991. The couple has never imposed their religion or lifestyle on one another. With a strong understanding between them, they embarked on married life according to Hindu customs after six years of dating. For the past 33 years, their married life has been full of happiness. Gauri had once mentioned on the show Koffee With Karan that they walk through life with mutual understanding. She respects his religion, but that does not mean she has to convert.

Deepfakes have already caused concern in Bollywood, with fake images involving actresses like Rashmika Mandanna and Katrina Kaif circulating earlier. Now, an image related to Shah Rukh Khan's supposed religious conversion of Gauri has surfaced, trying to spread harmful misinformation in society. The image, which was created using AI technology, showed the family vacationing abroad for New Year, and it was manipulated with a backdrop of Mecca to falsely suggest a religious conversion.

AI, while beneficial, also carries the potential to cause significant harm in the future. It is crucial for us to remain cautious and vigilant in the face of these technological advancements.
