Vaani Kapoor Reacts to Sardaar Ji 3 Row, Says ‘No Law Was Broken’

Vaani Kapoor On Diljit Dosanjh: Bollywood actress Vaani Kapoor's film 'Abir Gulaal' was stopped after the Pahalgam terror attack (22 April 2025). The reason for stopping the release of the film was Pakistani actor Fawad Khan. However, Diljit Dosanjh released his film 'Sardar Ji 3' abroad instead of releasing it in India. Pakistani actress Hania Aamir was seen in the lead role with Diljit in this film, which was also opposed a lot. Meanwhile, Vaani Kapoor has reacted to Diljit's decision to release the film abroad despite demands for a ban.

Diljit Dosanjh speaks on 'Sardarji 3' controversy

Actually, in an interview, Vaani Kapoor said that the situation was different when Diljit's film was shot. The actress said, "I think his film was shot before that horrific attack, and as a producer, I am assuming that his money must be stuck. I think about 100 technicians were involved in making the film. The situation was different at the time of shooting the film".

Along with this, Vaani Kapoor defended Diljit Dosanjh's decision and said, "I don't think he had any intention to disrespect the country. He is a global star... he is respected all over the world. He has taken whatever steps he thought were appropriate. But I don't think any law has been broken, right?"

What are the controversies behind Sardar Ji 3? 

Let us tell you that due to the strained relations between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor on 22 April 2025, Pakistani artists were banned from working in India. However, in the meantime, Diljit released the trailer of his much-awaited film Sardar Ji 3, starring Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in the lead role. As a result, the producers decided to release the film only abroad and not release it in India.

There was a demand to ban Diljit Dosanjh

Not only this, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees demanded a ban on Diljit Dosanjh's future projects in India on this decision. Not only this, but many stars also criticized Diljit for working with a Pakistani actress. The producers and Diljit clarified that the film was shot long before the relations between the two countries deteriorated, and they released it abroad on June 27. The film was extremely successful and, despite not being released in India, collected more than 50 crores internationally. By doing so, it became the highest-grossing Punjabi film of the year.

Vaani Kapoor was recently seen in the show "Mandla Murders", which also featured Shriya Pilgaonkar and Surveen Chawla in lead roles. The actress will next be seen in Navjot Gulati's comedy drama "Badtameez Gill", which also stars Aparshakti Khurana, Paresh Rawal, Sheeba Chaddha, Richard Bhakti Klein, and Monica Chaudhary in lead roles. The release date of the film is yet to be decided.
