The Vantara project is a development initiative led by Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani. Anant loves animals very much so he has created Vantara Project to take care of them.

In the heart of Jamnagar, Gujarat, amidst the vast greenery of Reliance's refinery complex, has emerged a ground-breaking initiative called Vantara, which has become a beacon of hope for thousands of injured, abused, and endangered animals across India and beyond. Led by Anant Ambani, this massive 3,000-acre rescue and rehabilitation center stands as a testament to the power of compassion and innovation in animal conservation. Vantara's story is not just about saving animals; It is about setting a global benchmark in wildlife care, inspired by Nita Ambani's childhood lessons of kindness. Anant Ambani had visited Vantara in one of his interviews. While he also mentioned naming it, he said that Vantara means 'Star of the Forest'. Further, in the interview, he gave the specialty of this sanctuary which is given below.

Created a haven for the voiceless

Vantara is not just an animal shelter; it is a sanctuary that provides natural habitat to more than 2,000 animals, including 200 elephants and 300 larger animals such as leopards, tigers, lions, and jaguars. The initiative also cares for over 3,000 herbivores and over 1,200 reptiles, making it the world's largest facility of its kind. This ambitious project was born out of Anant Ambani's deep respect for all living beings, a value instilled in him during his childhood by his mother Nita Ambani. Recalling his first elephant rescue, when he was just 12 years old, Ananth cites this early experience as a pivotal moment that shaped his commitment to animal welfare.

What sets Vantara apart is its holistic approach towards animal care, which includes rescue, treatment, rehabilitation and ultimately releasing them back into their natural habitat whenever possible. The center has advanced facilities, including a hospital equipped with state-of-the-art technology for wildlife treatment, prosthetics, and specially designed Ayurvedic treatment techniques for animals. Anant Ambani's vision extends beyond the boundaries of Vantara, aiming to revolutionize animal care infrastructure across India. By partnering with the Zoo Authority of India and other government organizations, Vantara strives to enhance the welfare of animals in more than 150 zoos across the country, demonstrating a commitment to raising the bar in animal conservation.
