The trailer-launch event and viewing of eminent film-director Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar’s latest entertaining social, emotional, slick thriller ‘Devmanus’ ( with English sub-titles) was a wonderful experience. The movie co-produced by Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg (founders of ‘Luv’ films) has a unique first-time on-screen-pairing combination of brilliant mega-star actors Mahesh Manjrekar, Renuka Shahane, and Subodh Bhave. They are supported by popular actors Siddharth Bodke and Abhijeet Khandkekar in striking volatile roles.

What is also very interesting to note that amazing ‘Devmanus’ actors Mahesh Manjrekar ( as the common-man pilgrim), Renuka Shahane  ( as a simple Paithani saree handloom weaver) and Subodh Bhave (as the diligent tough-talking, investigating, police inspector) are also fabulous ‘directors’ as well. So it’s a phenomenal combination of actor-directors that is bound to make ‘Devmanus’ an emotional, dramatic volatile thriller with a religious tadkaa a worthy watch in cinema-theatres.

Reacted Mahesh Manjrekar, “As simple pilgrims we should go-with-the-flow, without complaining or protesting and without expectations, also reconcile with reality even as we follow religious passion-devotion.  This is what I  learnt and imbibed just being with the ethnic Varkari pilgrims (Lord Vithoba worshippers in Maharashtra) as part of my pilgrim character Keshav in upcoming Marathi movie ‘Devmaanus’, where I play the central title-character opposite Renuka Shahane, “ disclosed acclaimed veteran actor-director Mahesh Vaman Manjrekar. This was at the awesome trailer launch event of the same movie Devmanus which has English sub-titles for non-Marathi audiences.  In a witty comment about himself, Mahesh declared I was originally a positive, good-hearted dev-maanus ( God-figure)  but everyone ( film-makers) preferred to give me negative roles, “ which had a reaction of cheers and applause.

It was so delightful for me to re-connect with affable actress Renuka Shahane, ( also known for her sparkling, charming smile)--- after a gap of maybe more than  12 years  As a film-journalist and well-wisher I have personally known Renuka ever since she made her Hindi big-screen-debut with musical mega-hit ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun  (1994).

Shared Renuka, “ It was an enriching experience for me to career-wise work --first time-- with great actors like Mahesh  Manjrekar and Subodh Bhave and second time ( after ‘Bucket List’) with genius director Tejas Deokar in Devmanus. While playing the unconventional Paithan sarees handloom weaver-character it was a revelation for me. That’s because I realized the tremendous amount of extraordinary creative hard-work which the workers put in, but do not get paid adequately. Overall an enjoyable process for me being part of  dynamic producers Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg’s ‘Devmanus’

Glam actress Sai Tamhankar

As a bonus surprise for audiences,  the movie 'Devmanus' has total Four Filmfare Awards winning bold, maverick amazing actress Sai Tamhankar performing an alluring laavni dance to a Marathi ethnic song.

For director Tejas Deoskar,  Marathi movie ‘Devmanus’ is more than just a film—it’s a personal journey. “This emotional-social thriller film holds a special place in my heart,” he said, clearly moved during the event. “It blends emotions, drama, and suspense in a way that mirrors life itself. Working with such a brilliant cast and crew has been an unforgettable experience. I’m thankful to Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg for trusting me with their first Marathi project.”

Coincidentally, the Tejas Deoskar directed Hindi movie 'Ground Zero'  belonging to a different explosive war-zone terrorism genre, is also releasing on Friday 25th . A commendable  cinematic achievement for talented director Deoskar
Producers Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg ( of ‘Luv Films) are best known for delivering Bollywood blockbusters, like ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar’ and ‘De De Pyaar De’  and ‘Vadh’ . But with ‘Devmanus’, they’re taking a daring leap into regional cinema—and they’re doing it with total commitment.

“’Devmanus’ is our tribute to Maharashtra’s rich cultural heritage,” shared Luv Ranjan. “From the music to the storytelling, we wanted to create something that’s rooted in tradition yet thrillingly modern. It’s not just our debut in ethnic Marathi cinema which always highlights regional subtle nuances ; it’s our way of showing deep respect for it.”

Ankur Garg echoed the sentiment: “This film is a big moment for us. With Tejas at the helm and an incredible cast, we knew this story had to be told. We’re beyond excited for audiences to experience it in theatres on Friday April 25th.”
