Dharmendra wanted to get Isha married at the age of 18
Let us tell you that actress Esha Deol said in an interview that her father is "completely conservative" and said that he wanted me to get married in my teens because that is what he saw around him. She said, "He did not want me to come into films. He is a bit conservative and rightly so. He is a Punjabi father and he wanted us to get married and settle down by the age of 18. That is his conditioning, he comes from a place where all the women in his house were brought up like this. But my upbringing was very different".
Esha Deol's mother Hema Malini said this
Along with this, Esha Deol said that she grew up with her mother Hema Malini and was very influenced by her career in films. She also wanted to make a name for herself. But it took her some time to convince her father. She said, "I knew I wanted to become something, but it took some time to convince him. It was not easy, but today the story is different". Dharmendra's two sons from his first wife Prakash Kaur, Sunny and Bobby Deol, were both established actors by the time Esha made her debut in films in the year 2002.
Esha Deol grew up in a strict environment
In the same interview, Esha Deol told that she grew up in a strict environment as her grandmother did not allow her to wear short skirts and spaghetti tops. She said, "My grandmother was very strict. We were not allowed to go out wearing spaghetti and short skirts. We were not allowed to stay awake till late at night many times." She said that she has gone through a rebellious phase when she used to lie to her parents to go out. She said, "There was a period when I used to lie to go out late at night. I have done all that. It is not that I have not done it and it used to be fun too". At the same time, Esha Deol made a significant mark with her lively performance in the song Dhoom Machale from Dhoom (2004), which further strengthened her bold personality. Despite the success of Dhoom, her subsequent films like Dus, LOC: Kargil, Yuva and No Entry did not achieve lasting success.
