Rohit Shetty's recently released film Singham Again has been the talk of the town for all the right reasons. Fans of Shetty, who is known for delivering hit cop films, are eagerly waiting for the sequel. In an interview, the filmmaker confirmed plans for Sooryavanshi 2 with Akshay Kumar and Simmba 2 with Ranveer Singh. When asked if Simmba could appear in the world of Golmaal, he jokingly asked fans to 'have mercy' on him, adding that such a crossover would be a bit difficult to manage.
Reaction given about Suryavanshi 2
After Singham Again hits the screens, we sat down for an insightful chat with Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty, apart from that when asked about the film Sooryavanshi 2, he said, "It will take time. Again, a cop film will take some time, maybe a year or even more. But yes, after that, I will plan. It's too early to say which film I will start first."
In the interview, a fan in question mentioned his love for Ranveer Singh in Simmba and asked if he can look forward to Simmba 2, either as a standalone film or with Simmba appearing in the Golmaal universe, the director laughingly replied, "That would be too much. Take pity on me, this universe is coming here, that universe is going there, Simmba will be there, obviously; it is one of the most loved characters in the cop universe."
The focus will be on comedy films
He further added, "But as I said, we will first focus on comedy and then come back, as making cop films continuously since Simmba in 2018 may be too much for the audience." In Sooryavanshi, Akshay Kumar plays the lead role of DCP Veer Sooryavanshi, an anti-terrorism officer driven by duty and courage. Katrina Kaif stars alongside him in the lead female role, while Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh play impressive roles, reprising their roles as Singham and Simmba respectively, adding to the film's powerful police-universe appeal.
On the other hand, Simmba, directed by Rohit Shetty, sees Ranveer Singh as Sangram Bhalerao, a cop who starts out as morally questionable but finds his way to justice after being inspired by a life-changing experience. Starring Sara Ali Khan, the film brings intense action and explores themes of redemption and the fight for justice. Set in the same cinematic universe as Shetty's Singham series, Simmba mixes thrilling action with moral dilemmas.
