LOCKDOWN HAS EVOLVED MANY RELATIONSHIPS, SAYS AMIBEN MODI

Spiritual healer Amiben Modi says that while staying at home is challenging, the lockdown has also been a great learning experience. “In the 47 years that I’ve lived, I’ve never experienced something close to a lockdown. It’s something extremely unusual and also challenging, but I’m grateful for this because it has really brought some amazing changes and also kept the situation in tremendous control for the country. Apart from the political and societal circumstances that we think of, it has also evolved many relationships and brought about familial changes. I’ve heard of so many couples who hardly got to have dinner together, are now not only cooking but also buying groceries together,” she says.

She adds that people are trying to make the most of their time at home. “Many people are following their hobbies and surprising themselves every day. I only hope and wish that people continue to take care of themselves and do their bit as citizens by staying home and keeping everyone safe,” she says.

However, it’s tough, she admits. “On the other hand, I’ve come across many people losing their mental stability and peace of mind because of the news that is broadcasted and the negativity that this pandemic has caused. I truly believe and request people to watch the news not more than once a day, because it really causes a great impact on the atmosphere you live in. Moreover, discussing isn’t going to bring an end to it,” she says.

She adds, “Talking spiritually, I would suggest everyone to sit in the direction of the sunrise or in the garden and do three ‘omkaras’. This would lead to stronger mental health, hence a stronger body. I’ve been in the interaction of more than 200 people a day and it is delighting to hear that most people are truly enjoying themselves and not being negative in these challenging times. It’s like life has taken a pause and given us a chance to appreciate the little things around us, like, enjoying home-cooked meals and the company of the family.”
