Mahesh Manjrekar Recommends Abhijeet Shirish Deshpande To Nikhil Sane Of Via.Com 18 Motion Pictures To Direct Aani Dr Kashinath Ghanekar

Nikhil Sane who had helmed Marathi films like Bal Gandharva, Nat Samrat, Natarang and Katyar Kaljat Ghusali said at the trailer launch of his latest film Aani Dr Kashinath Ghanekar at the Orchid Hotel that Viacom 18 Motion Pictures decided to make the film with Abhijeet Shirish Deshpande as the writer cum director only because Mahesh Manjrekar called him up to recommend to him that he should give the debutant director a chance. Nikhil said that the big boss Ajit Andhare of Via.Com launched the film around Diwali last year and this year the film starring Subodh Bhave in the title role with Sanali Kulkarni playing the role of the younger version of the veteran actress Sulochana and Sumeet Raghavan essaying the role of Dr Shreeram Lagoo was being slated for a Diwali release. Abhijeet says that the reason that he chose to make a biopic on Dr Kashinath Ghanekar for his debut, was madness. “Over the years, we have seen many legends, be it performers, painters, writers or actors. When I say artists, I don’t mean only entertainers. Even Einstein is an artist for me. A common trait among all these artists is madness. This trait was magnified in Ghanekar on a personal level and this is what I connected to.”
