We all know how the Oscar-nominated Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi is in absolute awe of India! His maiden Indian project Beyond The Clouds, which also marks the debut of Shahid Kapoor's younger brother, Ishan Khattar is all set to premiere on the 13 and 14 October at the 61st BFI London Festival. The good news is that the determination and grit of Indians has impressed the filmmaker to an extent that his next project, Gold Mine, too will be based in India!
A report by FirstPost quoted the prolific director saying, "The ambiance of India is magical and incomparable... there exists a wonderful relationship between humans and nature. The undying spirit of people and their hope for life, in spite of all hardships, is unbelievable." He further added, "All these inspire me to shoot my next film in India as well and be the narrator of this effort of men, women, and children whose love for life encourages them to stay strong and rise over and above any hurdles that come in their path." Majidi also reiterated that India with its myriad culture and people from different milieu has always inspired him to tell stories.
If reports are to be believed, Gold Mine is based on a subject that came to Majidi during his frequent visits to North India. He has been developing the idea and recently visited the location where his story is based for further planning and recce. The film also marks the second collaboration of the filmmaker with producers Shareen Mantri Kedia and Kishor Arora under their banner of Namah Pictures.
"It's a pleasure to collaborate with Majidi for the second time. We share a common thought that India is a virtual gold mine of compelling stories that have a global connect and we are very happy taking India to the world," Kedia said.
The cast of the film hasn't been finalized yet and we are excited to know who'll bag the roles for his second venture in India!
