And one of the things he taught them was how to respect their seniors and all those who were talented in any field of life. It is this teaching of their father that Lata Mangeshkar picked up fast when she grew famous and one of the thing she did was to institute the Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Smriti Pratisthan Puraskar which was to be given every year to talented men and women in the fields of music, drama, art, social works and even journalism literature. These awards which were inspired originally by Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar continued for several years, but had to take a break for two years because of the pandemic. It was finally decided to present the prestigious awards on November 24th 2021 and the awards were presented to the winners at a grand felicitation function at the master Dinanath Manchester Natyagriha, vile parle, Mumbai. This year, the Master Dinanath award (Jeevan Gaurav Puraskar) for music and Art was conford on Pyarelal Sharma (of the Laxmikant and Pyarelal team) for his dedicated service to the Indian music and cine industry. The veteran singer Usha Mangeshkar was honored with the Dinanath Puraskar for her contribution to music. The Dinanath Vishesh Puraskar was awarded to singer - composer Meena Manchester - Khadikar and to Prem Chopra, the veteran actor for his dedicated service in the field cinema. Among the other eminent celebrities who were honored for their life--long service to theatre and cinema were Mala Sinha (who was seen in public after several years and was not recognized by many) and Nana Patekar who received a thunderous ovation, the veteran song writer Santosh Anand (ek pyaar ka nagma hai, poetess Neeraja. A number of doctors like Dr. Pratit Samdani, Dr. Rajieev Sharma, Dr. Janardan Ninbolkar, Dr. Ashwini Dutta, Dr. Nishit Shah and Dr. Sameer Jog were also felicitated for their dedicated services in the field of medicine and health care. The Mangeshkar family expressed its gratitude to the people for showing their admiration and affection for their family for over seventy years.
