Meghna Ghai Puri Ne Ek Aur Shandaar Award Jeeta
I was heading towards the 12th floor of Cliff Towers, close to the famous Mount Mary basilica in Bandra long before Mannat could even be dreamt of by a young man in Delhi whose name was Shah Rukh Khan- Ali Peter John

publive-image I had an appointment ( which I really didn’t need ) with Subhash Ghai who was just anointed with the title of the Showman, the only filmmaker after Raj Kapoor to be honored with the title.

There was a little girl dressed in her school uniform with me in the lift. I kept looking at her because she had that something special about her even though she was only in school.
As I watched her engrossed in her own thoughts, or were they her day dreams, I visualized a future for her which would be very different from all other girls of her age.
The 12th floor was inviting us both, and then I saw her entering the same door I was entering, the door leading to the residence of Subhash Ghai.
The girl looked at me and gave me a smile which I have not forgotten and went into what I felt must be her room or a room she shared with her mother, Rehana, also known as Mukta, the name given to her by her husband.

publive-image It was the first time I had seen Meghna Ghai and little did I know that I was destined to see her many more times as she kept growing up.

I next saw her accompanying her mother during the shootings of her father’s film, especially those shot on different locations.
She was a very quiet girl who kept watching all that was going on and all the people who were doing different jobs given to them by her father.
This girl was certainly no ordinary or everyday girl. She had something working in her mind and even in her eyes all the time and I could see her growing into the girl who I was hoping she would be.
Life took a big turn when her father started dreaming of having his own film school as a tribute to the film industry which had made him, an unknown young man from one of the smaller lanes in Delhi, reach the sky of success.

The girl called Meghna was studying abroad, but her father felt that her place was with him and his dream school.
He asked her if she was interested and in answer the father found his daughter by his side and totally involved in all his dreams, not just his school…
And as the years rolled by, Meghna had taken her place as the head of her father’s dreams and especially his dream school which was now called Whistling Woods International.
It has been my infinite pleasure and also my privilege to see Meghna in command of circumstances and situations which men would think twice or more times before facing.
The School had taken shape under the supervision  of the Showman with his daughter as his able and dependable second in command.

She was now the President of WWI, the initials which were going to be a part of film history in the years to come.
It didn’t take Meghna Ghai long to let the word know what mettle she was made of. She was now a master of all that she surveyed at WWI.
She was a  young woman who was looked up to by one and all at WWI, including her illustrious father.
She found acceptance, recognition and respect in every place and space where films mattered and soon began a spew of awards per her efforts to reach new standards of excellence in all the fields she had specialized in both theoretically and practically.

publive-image I have been lucky to see her walking up the stairs of several platforms to receive on the awards she has been winning since the last 10 years.

And only today morning, I was delighted again to know that she has received one more prestigious award, the Times Iconic Awards for excellence in the field of education through films(I hope I am  able to grasp the meaning of the award as it is meant to be).
And as expected, it was her father who was the first to react and express his joy over his daughter winning one more award and doing him and WWI proud.
And as expected ( naturally ) I knew what the response to her father’s happiness would be. Meghna had expressed her gratitude to her father and mentor and to the faculty at WWI and to all those who have walked shoulder to shoulder with her.

publive-image As the world which knows Meghna now, she is married to the young and dynamic Rahul Puri who she had met and fallen in love with when they were both students abroad and they have two kids, but nothing but nothing can come in the way of Meghna’s pursuit of her passion.

It is a double delight to see Rahul and Meghna work together like an army determined to win come what may.
That school girl I saw in the lift at Cliff Towers is now in charge of hundreds of young men and women who look forward to a bright future with Meghna inspiring them to lift their spirits and standards and scale new towers of excellence.
A word very close and dear to Ms  Meghna Ghai Puri who is recognized as an Icon, an achiever and a trend setter today and in whom I see hope and faith for the future. Carry on, Ms Ghai Puri, your rise has just begun.
