Loud and Sloppy!
By- Jyothi Venkatesh
Sushil Kumar Pant aka SK (Shahid Kapoor) is a lawyer with no principles more interested in making money than a difference to mankind with his practice. Lalita Notiyal aka Naughty (Shradha Kapoor) is a fashion designer whose sartorial aesthetic is so gaudy and loud that it can light up Tehri.Sunder Mohan Tripathi (Divyendu Sharma) the boy with a golden heart will have to suffer by giving up his own life in order to bring about a revolution, just because life takes a turn for the worse, when Tripathi’s new business set-up is slammed with an exorbitant electricity bill of 54 lakhs.
The death of his friend Sunder compels SK to do some introspection and turn an honest lawyer overnight. A High Court case follows and a battle is fought against a powerful private electricity supplier. A female lawyer (Yami Gautam) is judged, objectified all the time with the aim of eliciting cheap cat calls.
Shahid Kapoor proves that he is an actor of mettle with his histrionics coming to the fore after he changes his stance from being a footloose loser to an upright lawyer with ease. Shradha Kapoor lends the comic effect while Divyendu does a fair job. Yami Gautam impresses in a small role.Cinematography by Anshuman Mahaley manages to capture the beauty of Uttarakhand’s hills well. With slick editing and more focus on the crux of the story, this social drama had the potential to shine bright, but somewhere on the way, the loud film is beleaguered with its own sloppy pace and Shree Narayan Singh fails to live up to the promise he showed in his film Toilet Ek Prem Katha.
