This year was full of challenges for Monica Chaudhary, who struggled to form a strong foothold in the industry. The actor, who is debuting in the ALT Balaji web series Apharan, says that she learnt a lot. “2018, personally, was very tough as it was the first time I left my family and came to Mumbai from Delhi. I had to find a house here and live with flat mates. I have changed 4 houses since April. I did not even know how to cook food and how to be on a budget and buy groceries for myself. So, it was a new learning. It was tough. But professionally it was amazing. Jogi Malang, who is a big casting director called me to wish me last year on New Year and I knew that day itself that this year is going to give me good things. I got my first break, my ad went viral and then now I am getting such a good response for Apharan. So, many good things have come my way as well,” she says.
Ask her what was the best thing that happened this year, and she says, “There is no single best moment. There have been many moments which I cherish in 2018. The first one is when I met Kavish. He asked me to shift to Mumbai and I thought it will be a very professional meeting, which will last for 15-20 mins. But we kept talking for an hour or something and after that when I got to know that I am locked for Apharan. It was amazing. Then, I met the most amazing person, Nidhi who I have been a fan of since Permanent roommates She is the most humble person I have ever met, so it was amazing.”
She wants to celebrate New Year this year with her family. “If I am not working, I will visit my family as it’s been so long. Work has been fun but I am very homesick so I will probably go home and celebrate this New Year with family, no parties, nothing, just family time,” she says.New Year eve has always been fun for the actor. “There is not one particular memory which I can recall as such but I and my school friends have a ritual to have a bonfire since I am from Delhi and it's very cold there. So, we have a bonfire and then we light sky lanterns and pray and make a wish. My resolution for 2019 is that I will try to improve myself as a person, learn a few more skills, like I really wanted to learn singing. I am going to take singing classes. I will travel because I think I haven't explored much,” she says.
