Mothers-day

Vivek Mushran as Vicky Chacha from Main Maayke Chali Jaungi Tum Dekhte Rahiyo

“My mom and dad stay with me for at least half of the year. My mother still treats me like a kid and walks me to the door every day when I leave for work. She cooks my favourite dish, Kashmiri Dum Aaloo, on all special occasions. Together, we enjoy watching her favourite TV show which is; Main Maayke Chali Jaungi Tum Dekhte Rahiyo because she enjoys watching me on TV. The most beautiful memory I have of my mother is the way she took care of my grandmother in her last years and managed the whole house with that. She maintained a balance between both and never let either of the two suffer. I adore her for her huge heart filled with abundant love and care for everyone. For me, she is the epitome of love and home.”

"She doesn’t sleep till I get home even after a late night shift or a party. She calls me every day when I’m on set to ask what I’d like to eat for lunch and for dinner. I eat diet food so every time she asks me what all I’d like and experiments so that I don’t have to eat boring food. She’s always in sync with my emotions, she knows when I’m sad or angry or agitated and she’s always there to talk. She’s my best friend. She has always been.

See honestly being a mother is a thankless job, they don’t ask for anything in return. They just want us to grow and be happy. And we kids get so busy with our own lives that we unintentionally just live our lives and tend to not show how much our mothers mean to us. But that’s their magic!  They always know we love them and they never complain. And she is the one person I know I can always fall back on. Even in my show Main Maayke Chali Jaaungi Tum Dekhte Rahiyo my Mother is my backbone always there in full support to see my happy."

“Mother is not a word but an emotion. My mother means the world to me. She stays in Jaipur so I keep visiting her frequently and she also keeps coming to Mumbai. Even though we are not in the same city, she calls me twice daily to check on my health and to remind me to eat in time. Even today, she loves me and looks after me like her little kid. My mother is my best friend and we share everything with each other. She used to participate in a lot of drama and plays in her college time and I feel that I am living her dream of becoming an actor. Today, I play an important part in Patiala Babes which again is a show that throws light to this unique concept of motherhood. The most beautiful thing about our relationship is that every night, without fail, before I go to bed, I call my mother and talk to her. It is only after speaking to her that I get a good night sleep. The amount of calm and composure my mother maintains in every situation and her wise decision making is what I look up to and wish to learn from her.”

Ashnoor Kaur as Mini from Patiala Babes

I wish all the mothers a very Happy Mother’s Day. It is a day of love, it’s a day of friendship. You don’t need a day to show your parents we love them. You should focus on small gestures to show your care and love for your mother. I am super lucky to have a mom who supports me at every step in my life. She encourages me with my work and helps me in maintaining a balance between my studies and acting. She always travels with me and is always on the sets with me, she even helps me in enacting some scenes. My mom is my best friend first and then my mother. I am very open with her and I discuss everything in my life with her. She is like a mirror to me who helps me identify the areas in life I need improvement. With my above average performances in 10th grade is because of my mother and she used to be around me on the sets of Patiala Babes to guide me through the same. I am blessed to have her

N yes for a mother her child is always the center of her life and now she is playing even more important role as Nani, looking after my baby, so that I can go the sets of Patiala Babes hassle free. More than a mother daughter we share a very cordial relation as friends. I am blessed to have a mother who is always there for me in every situation of my life. She is my biggest strength."

My mom is my only best friend with whom I share almost everything. I still stay with my mom and she still looks after me the same way she used to do since my childhood. I have vivid memories with her to cherish for life long. One of the most memorable memories with her was her peculiar way of putting me into the sleep. She used to sing a soothing filmy song to put me into the sleep. I remember always hugging her around thighs while sleeping and even today when I don’t get the sleep I hold her to sleep. My mom is very patient which I appreciate the most and would like to adopt in me.”

“I have been in Mumbai for 4 years now and my mother is in Jalandhar. Even though we are not close in person but, she is always there for me whenever I need her, she is the strongest pillar of my life and my role model. Since I was a kid, she has always understood the unsaid and has provided me with everything required at every stage of life. She is the light of my life. I still remember when I was 2-3 years old and mom used to cook and hum her favourite song, I used to sing with her and I think that's when my interest in music initiated. My mother is my best friend, we hang out together, we go out for long drives, we talk about everything and anything with each other, we cook together, watch TV together and what not!The best memory I have of her is from my school days, when I used to participate in a lot of cultural activities and my mom used to stay up for nights just to stitch my perfect fit new dress to perform in. She has always and still is my favourite stylist. I want to be as strong as my mother.

"I live with my mother and if I get a chance then will live with her till my last breath. She can never change, she still shouts at me, gives me orders, doesn't give permissions for few things which she feels is not right, she takes care of me the way she used to take care before I got the show... Nothing has changed and I don't want it to change either because that is when I feel like a normal human being though I have always been a star for her."

But of course, no can come close to the bond I share with my mother. I remember that during my growing up years, she was very strict and I used to get scared telling her a few things but at the same time, her approach towards me was very caring and protective. It was when I started college, I felt that we developed a strong friendship where nothing was hidden. We came to a space where we were very comfortable sharing things with each other. “My mother has always been an inspiration, being the hard one who can actually ride horses and fight swords. I remember her teaching sword fights to her students and that time in my childhood she seemed like a hero to me. She has always been an adjusting person who taught me to adjust anywhere and everywhere and made me the street smart person I am today. Also, she used to be quite strict when I used to live with her but now as I am married, and visit her sometimes, she loves to pamper me. She cooks for me, even helps me dress up. Personally, now me being a mother, I think that I can do a great job even if I can be 10 per cent of what she is.”

Sourabh Raaj Jain as Dhananand in Chandragupta Maurya

“I am extremely close to my mother and I don’t think I need one day to celebrate Mother’s Day. She is the backbone of our house. Since my childhood, I have been fond of pineapple pastries from a confectionary near my house. After work, my mother used to take me to the confectionary to treat me with pineapple pastry. From the day when I asked her for money to buy a Valentine’s Day card in 7th standard, my mother has been my best friend. That day she took me to the shop and helped me choose the right first Valentine’s Day card. My mother is very determined about what she wants and always aims to achieve it. This is one of the aspects that I take away from her.”

“If I have ever witnessed a God, then she is my mother. She is as pure as a child. She guided me in every walk of my life right from acting to behaving with people around and respecting each and every one. She is the best teacher and best person in the world. She is my Guru who taught me to be humble, to be genuine, and to be grounded. I want to adapt the qualities of my Mother of how to be humble, gentle, kind and calm. I stay away from my home and my mom and the scariest thing in my life will be living my life without my mother. She is the most precious human in my life. She is an ideal mother who taught us how to be a gentle men. It is because of her I speak Hindi, Sanskrit and Urdu so well. She is no less than a God to me.”
