The film also begins with a scene that would be revisited later in the film to give you a jolt, so make sure you don’t miss the beginning. The film is about Aakash (Ayushmann Khurrana) is a talented Pune-based ‘blind’ pianist. Aakash meets the quirky Sofi (Radhika Apte), the daughter of a popular club owner, who is so floored by him that she lets him take her to his bed shortly after she meets him and then a yesteryear actor Pramod Sinha (Anil Dhawan), who is married to a much younger woman Sumi (Tabu). Aakash can’t turn on people even if he knows their secrets. Pramod Sinha gets murdered. The murderer now flings the 80 year old neighbor who knows her secret.

While Ayushman Khurrana is in top form, it is Tabu who excels in her negative role with aplomb. Radhika Apte is superb in her small role and walks away with all the accolades. Inspired by a French short film L'Accordeur or The Piano Tuner (2010) by Olivier Treiner, AndhaDhun is a nerve-racking tale of fear, deceit and crime, which keeps you on the edge of your seat as it teases your mind

Amit Trivedi’s music is melodious and cinematography by K.U. Mohanan is first rate. Though the film does boast of a brilliant screenplay and masterfully crafted narrative by Sriram Raghavan, and the audacious characters and the constant twists keep you riveted, the film starts losing its grip by the time the interval is over. But thankfully, the director regains his grip and the film ends up seizing the viewer with an underlying fear of what lies ahead and also grip his imagination.
