Relatable  Entertainer!

The film is out and out an entertainer and does not at all bore you but still I’d say that though there are some inherent and intrinsic flaws, the film definitely sets out  to show the leading man in a different light, and manages to drive away your blues.

The film revolves around an unemployed youth Karam (Ayushmann Khurrana) who does a fine job of imitating women’s voices and lands roles in local plays as Sita and Radha and is often revered by the people in the small town of Gokul for his roles and mostly for the way he does voice modulation. Both his old father Jagjit Singh (Annu Kapoor) is not at all comfortable with what he does and his dad wants him to find a regular job, where he doesn’t have to don the woman act and Karam is also very clear that he will play these roles only till he finds a regular job. Trouble arises in the paradise when he is required to pretend to be a sexy ‘Pooja’ at a call center for sex chats, especially since the actual Pooja leaves the job all of a sudden.

Though Ayushmann Khurrana is impeccable and manages to carry out his role on his own shoulders with aplomb though it has not been refined or developed well enough, Annu Kapoor brings down the roof with his zany and crazy role as Karam’s widower father.  Nuishrat Bharuixcha breezes in her role which does not want her to be intense like she is in all her films. Rajesh Sharma manages trio convince in his role which has shades. Manjot Singh and Vijay Raaz also impress

Amit Gupta scores as a playback singer with his zany song Radhe Radhe composed by music director Meet Brothers, who had earlier mesmerized us with Baby Doll. As a debutant director, Raaj Shaandilya not only writes a plausible script but also succeeds in evoking some amount of laughter in a s situational comedy, like this but it is commendable that he also drives home a subtle message that many of us are lonely and the need is there in each and every one of us to seek somebody who is able to listen to you when you need to pour out your thoughts once in a while but you do not get anyone to lend an ear to you.

On the whole, though the film has a flimsy premise and does not have much by way of content to gloss over, it is bound to win over the hearts especially as it does not preach or touch upon any profound topic  and is relatable
