Hackneyed and Outdated!

Ishqeria is an out n out flick chick about a small town girl Kuhu (Richa Chaddha) who falls madly in love with her college senior Raghav Dalmia (Neil Nitin Mukesh), who just leaves her after his marriage and opts to get married to Mrinalini Sharma (Radhika). The story is narrated in non linear manner is set in the picturesque Mussorie. There is nothing refreshing or new in the treatment of this film, where even the characters seem jaded.

Narrated in a non-linear manner, the screenplay appears a tad confusing. Though the film star on a promising note, the tempo starts dipping in the laborious second half and at one point it literally starts irritating you. Richa Chadha is good though in a half baked role while Raj Babbar makes a delightful cameo as the father of the leading man Raghav Dalmia, who is seen bickering with his ward all the time. Manish Anand impresses as Amit, the best friend of Kuhu, while Mrinalini Sharma hardly has any role. Niel Nitin Mukesh tries to pass off as a college teenager but fails to impress.

The film has been shot for over a period of three years lacks a cohesive story line and the poor Prerna Wadhawan, the director who is making her debut with the film has been handicapped with a poor screenplay too. Papon is impressive not only as the music director but also in a cameo appearance as himself in the college campus. On the whole, though it has a cute title, the film looks jaded, outdated and what’s more hackneyed to the core.
