Predictable!

Sushrut fondly known as Susu (Ayush Sharma) plays a garba teacher based in Baroda while Mic helle known as Manisha (Warina Hussain) plays an NRI who comes to India for a short trip. The two predictably meet, fall in love and after a misunderstanding ostensibly created by Michelle’s father, poor Susu, who does not even have a job follows Michelle all the way to London. Niren Bhatt’s script is old wine in recycled bottles, just with a new faces and a new setting. From the backdrop of the Navratri festival in Vadodara, the action later shifts to the banks of the River Thames in London.

The boy chases girl, proves his worth to the unreasonable father, wins girl, and wins ultimately. Though it sets out to present a sizzling and contemporary love story set in Vadodara, Loveyatri misses the rhythm as well as the tenor to make it seem like a perfect ode to love, especially since it lacks the gripping appeal of contemporary romantic stories. Sadly the film just fails to satiate die-hard romantics looking to revisit the love stories of the 90s.

The debutant director Abhiraj Minawala plays it safe by sticking to a tried and tested formula, focusing on mushy melodrama to create drama. While Ayush lacks the ability to emote, Warina impresses in her debut with her skills in acting. Rohit Roy hams in his role of the typical villainous father while Ram Kapoor is good as usual. Manoj Joshi has been wasted in an inane role.

To sum up, though Tanish Bagchi’s music elevates the film to a different plane along with Vaibhavi Merchant’s mesmerizing choreography, Loveyatri is old wine in a new bottle and is as predictable as the hills
