Hilarious To the Core!

This one is a meet cute fun film about how Guddu (Kartik Aaryan) and Rashmi (Kriti Sanon) meet at work place only to soon fall for each other hook, line and sinker. However, unlike other love stories, in a daring attempt, the girl wants to try living-in with the boy before settling down for marriage, though she is part of a small town in North India where her conservative and political local right-wing party leader father is against the concept of live in marriages and frowns upon it.

From the word go, Luka Chuppi is a fun film which is a roller coaster ride from the beginning till the end though at times logic does go to a toss. While Kartik Aryan is good as the guy who is tossed between his family and the girl he is hooked onto who wants to have a live in marriage, Kriti Sanon is too good and scores in her lively role, proving that she is indeed an actor worth watching out in the near future too.

It is a film in which even the character actors have been given their due credits. While Vinay Pathak plays with aplomb the role of a father perhaps for the first time, Aparshakti Khurana plays the supportive friend Abbas adequately well. It is Pankaj Tripathy who laces the film with enough comic punches in his dialogues playing an old bachelor who looks at women with lust in his eyes.  It is quite difficult to digest the fact that the small town boy has in his possession half a dozen condoms with various flavors when he sets out to woo her and the small town girl does not feign shock when exposed to the condoms.

To sum up, the film is hilarious to the core and a sure-fire winner in the Hrishikesh Mukerjee style, though frankly at some point, the inherent humor becomes repetitive, but thankfully the short run-time comes to the film’s rescue and saves it from being a boring and preachy marathon.
