Cinematic Experience!

Jyothi Venkatesh

The movie is an adaptation of Charan Singh Pathik's short story titled Do Behnein to the big screen. The story is about two sisters, Badki (Radhika Madean) and Chhutki( Sanya Malhotra) respectively, who bicker constantly to the point of irritating you, which tends to be a tad monotonous and their father (Vijay Raaz), who is in a state of dilemma because of their antics and the bratty next door neighbor Dipper (Sunil Grover).

While the first half was fun, loaded with action, drama and laughs, the pace of thye second half slows down a little. What actually saves the film from plumbing into depths is its second half is embedded with a couple of twists. After the bashing he received for Rangoon last year, Vishal Bharadwaj has bounced back as a director to give a film that will make the viewers enjoy their cinematic experience. Performances by each and every one of the cast, whether it is Radhika Madan or Saniya Malhotra or for that matter Vijay Raaz or Sananand Varma is of first rate. Sunil Grover plays to the gallery as usual.

Namit Das shows a lot of promise and restraint as an actor while music by Vishal Bharadwaj is of top notch order. The film unfortunately fails to explore a complicated psychological reason for the sisters’ tendency to fight and at one stage it looks like it has been forcibly made into a two and a half hours long feature film from the content which could have been made just as a TV episode.

The film will touch the hearts of the movie-goers and is a winner all the way.
