Jyothi Venkatesh This one is a very trite and obsolete tale about an ambitious and bright student Ajay Singh, (Rajeev Khandelwal) son of a peon, who dreams and works towards becoming an IAS officer, getting caught up in the world of dirty politics and corruption due to some sudden turn of events. A huge scandal of examination paper leak has been going on since the past two years and the university committee summons Professor Tej Pratap Singh to set up an enquiry committee and set new question papers. The papers again get leaked and the professor is sent to jail but Ajay stands with his family in their difficult time finds the real culprit but accidentally shoots at the goonda Gyanu (Abhimanyu Singh) as a means of self-protection and caught in a scandal that he can never come out of. The first half of the film progresses slowly but picks up after the interval with a classic mixture of formulaic emotions, fight sequences, some strong dialogue, which h succeed in eliciting whistles and a very predictable climax. Rajeev Khandelwal scores as the innocent student but the same cannot be said of him as the angry young man who is on a spree of vendetta while Sameeksha as his beloved has been wasted. Vikram Gokhale and Atul Kulkarni are good as usual. You are warned when the film starts unfurling that it is a sort of tribute to the era of 80 when vendetta films and formula were at their zenith. This film is a wishy washy version of the vendetta films of 90’s especially those which had either Sunny Paaji or Dharamji of 70’s which make no sense. Sanjiv Jaiswal ought to take crash course in filmmaking of today It is better that you sit at home and watch an old VCD than suffer in silence. I’d say pranaam to those who still want to sit through this torture! For more Bollywood updates, follow Bollyy!
