Loud and Predictable!

Heavily inspired by films like Jabariya Jodi released early this year, which also dealt with the quirky subject of groom abduction, Sab Kushal Mangal has no surprise in store for you except perhaps Akshaye Khanna displaying the humorous side to his acting personality. Set in the sleepy town of Coloenlganj in Jharkhand, the predictable film's plot revolves around forced marriages.
Priyaank Sharma plays the host (Pappu Sharma) of a popular reality show Musibat Oad Li Maine, which sets out to expose social malpractices which are behind held in connivance with wily and corrupt politicians while Akshaye Khanna who makes his entry sporting a handle-bar moustache and long locks, looking anything but intimidating, plays a middle aged politician called Babasaheb Bhadari. It is the story of how the politician gets the TV host Pappu kidnapped with the mission of marrying him off forcibly to a spirited girl of marriageable age Manda aka Mandira (Riva Kishan) but ends up falling in one sided love with her.
There is nothing new by way of freshness or for that matter novelty in this old wine which has been stuffed in a brand new bottle but what saves the film from, being dubbed a failure is the excellent and impressive acting by Akshaye Khanna for a change in a role which affords him to display grey shades as well as the screen presence of the new kid on the block Riva Kishan who happens to be the daughter of the veteran actor Ravi Kishan. Priyaank Sharma who is the son of actor Padmini Kolhapure and producer Tutu Sharma is passable considering that it is his first attempt acting but lacks screen presence required to play a dashing leading man. Unfortunately there is no chemistry which is palpable between the two debutantes in this love story.
Satish Kaushik and Supriya Pathak Kapoor offer splendid support as the parents of the TV host while Rakesh Bedi is too good as the father who struggles to get a good groom for his only daughter. Yuvika Chaudhary as Babasaheb Bhandari’s keep in a cameo role has been wasted while the mandatory item number by Shriya Saran looks too incongruous for the plot
The trouble with the film is that the screenplay as well as the dialogues written by actor Brajendra Kala, who is conspicuous by his not acting in the film in any role, makes half-hearted as well as half baked attempt at underlining social ills like forced marriages and dowry, but sadly it fails to take really a solid stand for or against the matter. While the first half is erratic, the second half has some conflict, albeit predictable. On the whole, the execution by director Karan Vishwanath Kashyap is very loud and pedestrian and the film scores in certain scenes but is too long for comfort for the viewers
