Bizarre but entertaining!

Coming from the same filmmaker who had churned out a National award winning film in Tamil in Aaranya Kaandam exactly a decade ago, this is a film which has four segments , not necessarily connecting one a another but with a lot of subtle messages which are not forced down the throats of the audiences.
The film begins with a newly married wife Veambu (Samantha Akkineni) being drawn to her ex lover on her bed followed by her and her husband Mugil (Fahadh Fazil) trying to dispose the dead body, a little boy who gets a surprise when he meets his estranged father (Vijay Sethupathi in a daringly different role of the transgender Shilpa), who a corrupt cop letches after , a grown up teenager son who discovers his mother’s (Ramya Krishnan) other porn star side and lastly a religious man who actually starts having doubts over the very existence of God.
Super Deluxe gives us gems of four stories and the protagonists in each of these stories are tested in their beliefs in the strangest ways. Super Deluxe embraces the idea of sexual fantasies, with the absolutely non- judgmental director delving deeper into the darker forbidden taboo side of human mind, without being least judgmental about his characters. The highlight of the film is that written by Kumararaja, Mysskin, Nalan Kumarasamy and Neelan K Sekar, you can see Kumararaja deftly with the flourish of his hand connecting interrelated themes and subjects within the confines of his milieu.
I should say undoubtedly that the bold movie is a ripping critique of the sad plight of a transgender, the blind faith in religion and police crass cruelty, especially when a top cop sets out to humiliate and harass a transgender and later, blackmail a young Vaembu, forcing her to have sex with him in the presence of her husband.
Whether it is Vijay Sethupathi as Shilpa, or Fahadh Fazil and Samantha as the couple or for that matter Ramya Krishnan as the porn actress turned housewife, reminding you of Sunny Leone, each and every actor is superb. To sum up, it is a bizarre, entertaining brilliant film to come out from Kodambakkam which not only entertains but also makes you think. How you wish it was trimmer by at least half an hour instead of going on and on testing your patience at times
