 Riveting and Topical!

Take Care Good Night is a gem of a film which depicts a Metro Family which decides to fight a Cyber Criminal threatening their stability and pride. The only problem is, a technologically handicapped father Avinash (Sachin Khedekar) must learn to adapt, a mother Asavari (Iravati Harshe) who needs to revisit her long-forgotten counselling skills and a daughter Sanika (Parna Pethe), who should overcome a daunting hurdle of communicating with her parents.

At a time when Marathi Cinema surprises us with it’s out of the box and content oriented gems, like Chumbak, Rohan Deshpande’s Pipsi etc, this cyber crime thriller promises edge-of-the-seat entertainment, Take Care Good Night is a suspense thriller wherein the protagonists are being hounded by a psychotic stalker.  While performances by almost every member of the cast is marvelous, especially Sachin Khedekar who steals the show as the distressed father mention ought to be made of the direction by the first timer Girish Joshi which is of the first rate.

On the flipside, you can say that actors like Mahesh Manjrekar and Jayawant Wadkar have been miscast especially since they have pot bellies which do not go with the description of the cops, though they entertain with their antics in the film. What is admirable about the director is that he has set out to treat an adult theme like this which is about cyber crime and sex video with deft and clarity and does not let the film degenerate into a voyeur’s exercise even for a moment but yet talks about the double standards in our society in the way a son and a daughter is treated.

It is a film which is not only riveting but also topical in today’s times.
