It is out and out a kitschy masala movie which abounds with a lot of erotic scenes between a 60 plus old man who is a business tycoon (Shakti Kapoor) and his muse, a 18 something sweet and sexy kudi called Karma (Poonam Pandey). It is about how a wealthy man falls in love with a girl from the slums and vows to help her when her mother is trapped into a marriage with a so called Don who has his eye on his step daughter. Sadly even before the tycoon can redeem her from her poverty, while cavorting with her in the bath tub the old man suffers from a heart ache and dies

As far as performances go, though Shakti Kapoor gets into the skin of his character literally as the old man in love with a teenager and does not go overboard, Poonam Pandey is hardly able to register her impact and instead of empathizing with her, you only end up feeling that she is inducing her old lover as well as her step father to make their moves towards her. To give her due credit, Poonam Pandey unabashedly shows her curves and contours generously. Shrawani Goswami plays her part as the suffering mother perfectly

To put it in a nutshell, The Journey of Karma is a film which has an unrealistic plot where women –the mother as well as her daughter murder and burn bodies with impunity. While music is melodious to some extent, the screenplay is lacklustrous and the film is largely a montage of cleavage shots and erotic sequences to being out the beast in the audiences. It is a pity that at a time when cinema is growing and content is being created to explore its various facets; it is written in our karmas that we have to endure blatant pornographic stuff like The Journey of Karma. It is tacky and incongruous.
