New Update

Born on 22 July 1923, Mukesh was a music lover since childhood. They were ten siblings in which Mukesh Chand Mathur was at number six. His engineer father Zoravar had called a music master for his sister, but when the music master heard Mukesh along with Mukesh's sister, he also made them sit with him. From here music entered Mukesh's life for the first time.

Time passed, in the same sister's wedding in 1941, when only 17 years old Mukesh was singing KL Sehgal's song at his sister's wedding, his distant relative and famous actor of Indian cinema Motilal caught sight of him and took Mukesh to Mumbai. Leaving him to Pandit Jagannath Prasad in Mumbai, he was given time to take music lessons starting from the basics.

If you have been guessing about Mukesh's personality by listening to his songs, you are totally wrong, Mukesh's face usually had a smile and his face looked like a hero. This was the reason that he became both an actor and a singer in the 1941 film Nindosh and sang his first song for Bollywood – “Dil Hi Bujha Hua Ho..”

After this break, he had to wait for a long time. Mukesh also started working in public service after passing the tenth standard. But Motilal once again put his hand on his shoulder and gave him a chance to sing for the first time in his own film Pehli Nazar. That song was composed by Anil Biswas and that song was "Dil jalta hai to jalne de, aansoo na baha, fariyad na kar".

remember something? Yes, in the 2001 film Gadar, Sunny Deol while repeating the same song of Mukesh said in front of Ameesha Patel that "Us new singer Mukesh ne toh kamal hi kar diya, kya geet gaya... Dil jalta hai to jalne de"

KL Sehgal had so much influence on Mukesh and he started singing in the style of Saigal Saheb in such a way that after listening to this song, Sehgal himself could not live without being surprised and said "I don't remember when I sang this song" that is, he understood Mukesh's voice as his own.

Here superstar musician Naushad entered Mukesh's life and he took Mukesh out of the tag of copying Sehgal Saheb and gave him the skill to sing in his own voice, in his own style.

Naushad sang songs for Mukesh in films like Mela, Anokhi Ada and Andaz and you will be surprised to know that before Raj Kapoor, Mukesh had come as Dilip Kumar's voice and Mohammed Rafi used to sing playback for Raj Kapoor. Songs from Mehboob Khan's film Andaz were widely liked.

“तू कहे अगर, मैं जीवन भर, तुझे गीत सुनाता जाऊं”

“हम आज कहीं दिल खो बैठे”

टूटे न, दिल टूटे न”

People liked these songs very much and Mukesh got established as a singer for such a voice that could fill the heart with pain.

When Mukesh was 23 years old, he fell in love with Saral. But in the eyes of Saral's father, singing in films was such a work which was not called respectable at all. In his view, Mukesh would have been better if he had been an engineer like his father. Saral's father was a millionaire man, his saying was also correct. But Mukesh and Saral were determined that they would get married, they married in a temple on 22 July 1946, look at the date. Today's date is both their birthday and wedding anniversary.

Then the relatives of both the parties said that Saral will not be able to live on such a low income and both will be separated in some time but separately? Both of them were together in such a way that only death could separate them, apart from that no one had the courage to take away his simple from Mukesh.

Mukesh had five children, half as many as his father, in which Nitin Mukesh ventured into playback singing like his father and gave some memorable songs to the film industry.

If we return to Mukesh's music career, he has collaborated with Naushad on 133

After this, Dilip Kumar chose Muhammad Rafi to sing his songs instead of Mukesh and on the other hand, Raj Kapoor saw his voice in Mukesh.

Now, because Raj Kapoor's films had music by Shankar Jaikishan, 133 of Mukesh's 1300 songs were tied to Shankar Jaikishan's music, but most of Mukesh's chartbuster songs remained with Kalyanji Anandji. Mukesh recorded 99 songs with this pair, only one song missed the century. it has special songs

From the song “Naina Hai Jadoo Bhare” composed by Kalyanji in the film Bedard Zamana Kya Jaane (1958) to the song “Chahein Aaj Mujhe Naapsand Karo” in the 1977 film Darinda, he gave more than one song.

These included "Chhalia Mera Naam", "Mere Toote Hue Dil Se Poochhe, Dumdum Diga Diga Mausam Bheega Bheega, Mujhko Is Raat Ki Tanhai Mein, Humne Tumko Pyaar Kiya Hai Jita, Chand Si Mehbooba Ho Meri Kab Aisa I Thought I Had Thought, Waqt Karta Jo Wafa, Koi Jab Tumhaara Hriday Tod De, Jo Tumko Ho Paasand Wahi Baat Karenge" etc. were very famous songs.

The best feature of Mukesh's songs was that he used to represent the common man. His voice was such that anyone could hum his songs. Because in those days Muhammad Rafi and Kishore Kumar used to speak, they didn't have time, there were so many busy schedules, but Mukesh used to do only a few selected songs unlike most of them. After Raj Kapoor, Mukesh also sang many songs for Manoj Kumar, in which the above mentioned song of East and West "Koi Jab Tumhaara Hriday Tod De" was a bumper hit.

He also sang for Laxmikant Pyarelal in the 1968 film Milan and its songs also became record-breaking hits. The song “Saawan Ka Mahina, Pawan Kare Sor” is still one of the popular songs. Amazing thing is that Mukesh sang very few songs for Salil Chowdhary but the ones he sang became record breaking hits. Please tell-

"I chose seven colored dreams just for you"

“Kahin Door Jab Din Dhal Jaye” both these songs were in Anand and you all know how popular Anand's songs were. At the same time, he was also awarded the National Award for the first and last time in the composition of Salil Chaudhary. His song “Kai baar yun bhi dekha hai, ye jo mann ki seema rekha hai…” in the film Rajnigandha, won the National Award but did not even get a nomination in any category of Filmfare.

But there were four occasions in Mukesh's life when he was awarded the Filmfare Award. Shankar Jaikishan was the composer of three of these four songs. His first award was received after 15 years of his career for the song “Sab Kuch Sikhya Humne Na Sikhi Hoshiyari” in Raj Kapoor’s film Anari. This award was not only Mukesh's, but also the first award function of Filmfare.

But after this he had to wait for 11 more years for the next award. He got the next award for the song “Sabse Bade Naadan” from the film Pehchaan. He again received the award two years later for the sarcastic song "Jai Bolo Beimaan Ki" for the film Beimaan.

It was fun when, like Mukesh, Khayyam sahab, who had composed music for a limited number of films, called him to give voice for the songs of his film Kabhi Kabhi. The lyrics of Kabhi Kabhi were written by Sahir Ludhianvi and every singer was eager to give voice on Sahir Sahab's songs. Just when this team was formed, the songs also turned out to be more than one.

The demand for the songs of this film, which came in 1976, was such that for this, Mukesh started going abroad to do concerts with Lata Mangeshkar. The song "Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil Mein Khayal Aata Hai" from the same film won the Filmfare Award. But people liked the song “Main Pal Do Pal Ka Shayar Hoon” from this film very much.

The cricket connection of this song and Mukesh is also very strong. Legendary leg-spinner Bhagwat Chandrashekar was a big fan of Mukesh. Alam was that whenever the then captain Sunil Gavaskar had to boostup him, he used to recite Mukesh's songs.

And our former captain of the best Indian team till date, World Cup winner Mahendra Singh Dhoni is very fond of “Main Pal Do Pal Ka Shayar Hoon”. Dhoni likes this song so much that he even gave the news of his retirement through this song.

Mukesh ji went to Michigan United States in 1976 with his wife for the concert of this song and other songs. On the morning of August 27, he went to the bathroom and almost immediately came back with his hand on his heart and said, "My chest is hurting". Everyone was aware of his condition. Due to weakness of heart, he had also reduced the singing, otherwise his contemporary Kishore Kumar had sung more than 2600 songs. He was immediately taken to the hospital and the doctors stopped his pulse and said "He is no more".

To complete that concert, Lata Mangeshkar and Nitin Mukesh completed that concert with wet eyes. Lata Mangeshkar brought his body to India.

When Raj Kapoor heard this news, his tears could not stop. Told from his sore throat, "My voice has gone." The whole of Bollywood was stunned by this news. Mukesh ji's age was only 53 years.

Mukesh is gone but his voice, his legacy remained intact forever. Manmohan Desai, along with Laxmikant-Pyarelal, considered himself lucky that he recorded a song in Indian film music that had never happened before, which could never happen again.

Yes, I am talking about the song “Humko Tumse Ho Gaya Hai Pyaar” from the movie Amar Akbar Anthony. The song featured Muhammad Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Mukesh himself and Lata Mangeshkar. A song like this could never be made again, nor could it be made.

Even after Mukesh's departure, many of his films continued to appear for the next 3 years and people continued to like his voice. If someone asks me which is the first song of Mukesh that comes to my mind, I will name this song without thinking twice.
