Mukta A2 Cinemas Celebrates Safer Internet Day – Educates Public On Internet Usage Practices

On the occasion of Safer Internet Day, Mukta A2 Cinemas took the opportunity to educate its guests on the safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones. To that end, a special interactive session with experts in the domain was organised.

Held at New Excelsior Mukta A2 Cinemas in Mumbai, the event began with the introduction of Ritesh Bhatia, a renowned cyber security consultant and Founding Director of Cyber Crime Investigations, and Nirali Bhatia, a registered counsellor, cyber psychologist, and TEDx Speaker. Over the course of an interactive session, the duo fielded a wide array of questions from the audience and shared valuable insights on protecting one’s data and privacy in a rapidly evolving world.

“The best tool for cyber defence is awareness. Cybercrimes are becoming more sophisticated and hence the user cannot afford to remain cyber-illiterate. I would like to thank Mukta A2 Cinemas for organising this much needed session for the citizens.  Lastly, don't forget that this can happen to you too,” shared Ritesh Bhatia. “With rapidly emerging cyber world, the invisible dangers and cybercrimes are on high rise which have a far deeper effect and impact on victims’ mental and emotional health,” Nirali Bhatia said. “Depression, obsession, low self-esteem and addiction are some of the most common concerns for users of social media today. I appreciate the initiative taken by Mukta A2 Cinemas for using their platforms to spread such awareness.” Following this, the guests were presented with a token of appreciation by the Mukta A2 Cinemas team.

Commenting on the event, Rahul Puri, Managing Director at Mukta A2 Cinemas, said, “The internet is a wonderful resource – it opens up a world of learning, allows us to connect with friends and family across the world, and helps us navigate life on a daily basis. However, these benefits are also accompanied by many threats and dangers. In order to help make the internet a safer and more responsible place, we decided to organise this event and allow the public to directly interact with experts in the field.”

First begun in 2004, Safer Internet Day has become a landmark event in the online safety calendar. Starting as an initiative of the EU Safe Borders project in 2004 and taken up by the Insafe network as one of its earliest actions in 2005, Safer Internet Day has grown beyond its traditional geographic zone and is now celebrated in approximately 150 countries worldwide. From cyberbullying to social networking, each year Safer Internet Day aims to raise awareness of emerging online issues and chooses a topic reflecting current concerns. The theme for 2020 is ‘Together for a better internet’.
