Some forty five years ago , Mumtaz who had reached the pinnacle of success gave up everything , married Mayur Madhwani , a business tycoon from Uganda and settled down in London and had no interest of coming back to Mumbai or to films .

But the temptation to come back at least for a holiday kept nagging at her . She first came to Bombay for a wedding in the family . Her friend Yash Chopra offered her the role of the mother of Shashi Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan in Deewar , but she turned it down as she felt that she would not be able to carry the role and the role which was also been rejected by Vyjayanthimala finally went to Nirupa Roy who made the role immortal .

But the temptation to act in films kept luring her and she finally fell for Pehlaj Nehalani's offer to play the wife of Shatrughan Sinha and the mother of the star of Bengal Prasanjit . The film titled " Aandhiyaan" and directed by David Dhawan turned out to be one of the biggest disasters at the box office and Mumtaz hurried back home to London.

She next came back to Mumbai for the marriage of her daughter to the son of Feroz Khan , Fardeen Khan and then for the funeral of Feroz Khan.

During last few weeks, Mumtaz has come back to Mumbai twice . The first time it was when she paid a private visit to the house of Dharmendra and there were rumours that she would be making a comeback as Dharmendras wife in Apne 2 directed by Anil Sharma , but the rumour is still a rumour.

And now only last week Mumtaz was back in Mumbai and she hosted a party at her Pent House residentce where she and Mayur Madhwani invited their close friends from Bollywood , Dharmendra Danny Denzongpa and Reena Roy.

The friends exchanged stories and gossip till the early hours of the morning. And the highlight of the party was when Shatrughan Sinha and Reena Roy came face to face after more than forty years. They were said to be madly in love and had worked together in films like "Kalicharan", "Vishwanath" and "Hathkadi" after which Shatrughan took a sudden decision and married Poonam , a leading model and Reena married the Pakistani cricketer Mosin Khan only to have a very unhappy marriage which let to an a early divorce and Reena now lives a lonely life in Pam Cottage opposite Bandra Gymkhana and moves out of her house only once in a way.
