Nandita Das’s First Book Manto & I All Set To Be Launched

Says Nandita Das, prduicer-director of the acclaimed award winning and controversial film Manto, “Sorry for the group mail, but please treat this as a super personal invite. You will be happy to know that my first book Manto & I, on the journey of making the film has been traveling to various lit fests. It is now formally being launched in Mumbai on the 16th of February at G5A Foundation of Contemporary Culture at 6:00 pm. Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who played to perfection the complex role fo Manto himself, and some members of the cast and crew will be there! Namita Devidayal will do the conversation. As this is at such short notice, I would be grateful if you could feature it in your listings of the week and please feel free to share the invite with anyone who would be interested.
Writing the book was a very personal journey, as far as I am concerned. I travelled with the film all over again! I think that even if you have seen the film, I think you will enjoy knowing about the ‘whys’ and ‘hows’ of making it, and if you have not seen the film, I hope the conversation piques your interest enough that you will want to see it! I should concede frankly that with Manto and I, my journey , not only as a human being but also as a director, feels complete. Looking forward to hearing from you and seeing you on the 16th! The book , I am sure will also prove that Nandita Das is not just a well read person andf actor and writer and director but also a gifted author, who can keep any reader glued to his or her seat with her comprehensive book.
