Naresh Kumar - Chairman & Dr. H.S.Paul - Vice Chairman Felicitated Sir William Mark Tully at the knowledge sharing initiative recently organised by the The Public Relations Society of India, Delhi Chapter at SCOPE CONVENTION CENTRE, New Delhi.

In the beginning of the event, G.S.Bawa, former GM (PR) AAI, introduced the Samvaad series and thereafter the welcome address was given by Naresh Kumar - Chairman, PRSI Delhi Chapter & GM (CC) Powergrid.

The opening remarks were delivered by Pallabh Bhattacharya, ED (CC), ONGC. The elected board members of Delhi Chapter who attended the event includes are Naresh Kumar - Chairman, PRSI Delhi Chapter & General Manager (Corp.Comm.) Powergrid, H.S.Paul - Vice Chairman & Delhi Bureau Chief, Daily Excelsior, S.S.Rao - General Secretary & AGM (Corp.Comm.) PFC, Sarvesh Tiwari - Joint Secretary & MD, PR Professionals, J.P.Sharma – Treasurer & Former DGM (PR), NTPC, Akshat Chopra – Member & Public Relations Officer  (CC), Powergrid and Tanvi Singhal - Member & Sr.Executive, REC.

Other members include, G.S.Bawa, Former GM (PR) AAI, K.N.Dhawan, (PR) Scope, J.P.Dhaundiyal, Advisor, Media Cell MoP, Sushma Gaur, AGM (PR), NHSRCL, Rajat Gupta, Consultant.

The event also witnessed the unveiling of the SAMVAAD LOGO by Sir William Mark Tully alongwith the board members of PRSI Delhi Chapter. On the occasion Tully said, “India and Indians are known for skillful communications and good communications is the foundation of good public relations”. Talking further about his love for radio he said “Radio as a medium inculcates the habit of listening among the masses. Listening gives you an opportunity to draw inferences from the speaker’s talk and you can draw your own imaginations in your mind about the situations and the individuals; as such it further inspires an individual to undertake his creative pursuits.”

He gave the analogy of fad for travel by air, how people travel by air even to destination which are more comfortable to cover by train or road; similarly fad for television is working against radio.

Mark Tully touched upon “Samvaad” in the society in today’s general and political context. He highlighted how over a period of time Samvaad had been dominated by acquisitions and cross-acquisitions rather than constructive and convincing arguments and cross argument. He emphasised how creative and effective listening has been adopted by Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa and other great leaders of the world in bringing together the masses and build Nations. He once again drew attention of PR professionals for deeply understanding this to meet the professional     Intent in developing and communicating their message to the masses in a more efficient manner.

On the occasion, Mark Tully complimented the team PRSI Delhi Chapter for their great service to the society.

At the end, vote of thanks was given by S.S.Rao – General Secretary PRSI, Delhi Chapter and  AGM (PR) Power Finance Corporation Ltd.,

The Public Relations Society of India is a non-profit National Association of PR Practitioners which was established in 1958 to promote the recognition of public relations as a professions and to formulate and interpret to the public the objectives and the potentialities of public relations as a strategic management function. The members of the society are public relations practitioners from Multinationals, Public and Private Sector, Academics and PR Consultants.
