National Award Winner Director Bipin Nadkarni Debuts In Bollywood With Darbaan

Director Bipin Nadkarni, who has earlier helmed noted Marathi films like Uttarayan and Aevdhese Abhaal is all set to foray into Bollywood with Darbaan, which revolves around a heart warming story of the master and his caretaker and is inspired from a short written by Rabindranath Tagore. The film has an interesting ensemble cast of Sharad Kelkar, Sharib Hashmi, Rasika Dugal and Flora Saini and is slated to release on April 3rd, 2020. The film has been shot for 35 days over a span of 3 years. Interestingly, this is the second association of Sharad Kelkar and Bipin as the actor marked his acting debut with Uttarayan in 2004. Bipin Nadkarni shares, “Darbaan has been a lifelong dream for me and I feel so complete today.

I would like to thank each one of you, who helped me to get here. I hope people will like the film. The film was shot for 35 days over a span of 3 long years. I strongly believe that it is not easy to live with a character for so long but talented Sharib Hashmi played his role so beautifully. Bipin adds, “Along with him, actors Sharad Kelkar and Harsh Chaaya are also in the important roles and they are my all time favourites. I had signed actress Flora Saini a year before the film went on the floors when we were working on an ad film. Rasika Duggal has a short but very impactful role in the film. Says Sharib Hashmi “In Darbaan, I am playing the role of a caretaker, who takes of this child like his younger brother.

He is like a part of the family but his life changes upside down when he commits a blunder that causes friction within the entire family. Shooting for this has been one of my most satisfying experiences.” Produced by Bipin Nadkarni, music is composed by Amartya Bobo Rahut along with the additional song by Raajeev V Bhalla and one of the prominent songs in the film is crooned by Arijit Singh. The film has been shot by Amalendu Chaudhary.
