Navjot Singh Sidhu jailed for 1 year

A big news has come out about the famous leader of Congress from Punjab Navjot Singh Sidhu, he has been given a one-year jail term in the 34-year-old road rage case and Simultaneously the imprisonment will be rigorous and Sidhu will be taken into custody by the Punjab Police.

As per the news published in Navbharat Times, Navjot Singh Sidhu had earlier requested the Supreme Court to dismiss the review petition filed against him in the road rage case, In response to the review petition Sidhu said " This incident happened 33 years ago and this petition is not worth considering” he had also urged the Supreme Court not to make any change in his sentence in this case.

In 2018, the Punjab and Haryana High Court had convicted Sidhu of culpable homicide not amounting to murder in this road rage case and sentenced him to three years imprisonment, but the Supreme Court held Navjot Singh Sidhu guilty of intentionally causing hurt to a senior citizen, at that time he was not given a prison sentence and imposed a fine of Rs.1000.

This case is of December 1988, When Sidhu collided with an elderly Gurnam Singh while going in his car in Patiala and he punched Gurnam Singh in anger after which Gurnam Singh died.
