Neelanjana is like my daughter - Kamal Haasan on Indian Idol 10

Sony Entertainment Television’s popular singing reality show Indian Idol 10 is rocking the charts with superb performances from its top 14 contestants. The marvelous singers have been enthralling audiences all over with their soulful rendering of melodies. In the upcoming episode, living legend – Mr. Kamal Haasan will be seen on the show enjoying the hit songs from his blockbuster movies of the yester year. The superstar was mighty impressed with one of the contestants – Neelanjana Ray’s beautiful rendition of ‘Tere Mere Beech Mein’.

It’s a lesser known fact that Mr. Kamal Haasan is a singer as well. Witnessing the budding singers belt out tunes from his landmark movies, made the super-star nostalgic . One such performance that struck a chord with the ‘Hindustani’ hero was Neelanjana’s performance of ‘Tere Mere Beech Mein’ from his blockbuster movie – Ek Duje Ke Liye. Kamal Haasan was mesmerized with her performance and also said that she reminds him of his daughter Shruti. As an emotional father, Kamal was moved to tears when he spoke about Shruti.

Super-star Kamal Haasan said, “Indian Idol has a legacy of giving a platform to the budding talented singers. I was stunned when I heard ‘Tere Mere Beech Mein’ for the first time and years later I have seen Neelanjana who wasn't even born when my movie was released sing it with such finesse. I envy her singing talent. I’m a wannabe singer and am living my dream of being a singer through my daughter Shruti Haasan. Neelanjana is also like my daughter and I am proud of them and of all that they have accomplished. All these contestants have a bright future ahead of them.”
