Critically acclaimed film Masaan became the debut for Shweta Tripathi, she was recognized as Shaalu Gupta by the audience. Shaalu is a simple girl from the upper-caste falls in love with Deepak aka Vicky Kaushal belongs to the Dalit community. She graced her character by portraying the innocence and purest form of love. She was recognized for her craft and immense talent by critics, audiences and industry folk alike.
At twenty-eight, Shweta played the character of a 14-year-old girl in the film Haraamkhor, who falls in love with her teacher. As Sandhya, she aced the character of being an adolescent with a disturbed childhood and received immense praise. Meant to be her debut, this was her second film and she amazed every individual who saw the film with her dedication to her role and how she pulled off looking so different from her natural self.
In the much-acclaimed web-series Mirzapur, Shweta played a college topper who is headstrong, and self-aware. In an area where violence is a way of life, Gajagamini Gupta or Golu is meek and yet upfront and rooted to her beliefs, brainy and yet secretive. She refuses to believe in violence. She proved her mettle yet again by portraying a layered character with absolute finesse. Appreciated critically for her natural acting, Shweta played an iconic role that put her name down in some of the most promising characters of the industry.
For women, hair loss is one of the most dreaded dreams and in her film Gone kesh, Shweta portrays Enakshi, a girl who suffers from Alopecia. To get into the skin of her character, she put in intense research and groundwork into understanding the disease and the patients’ plight. She connected with the patients from around the world through social media portals and spent maximum time having a conversation with them. this helped her feel the plight of the character. Despite playing an extremely delicate role of alopecia-patient, Enakshi outdid herself once again. She impressed viewers with her light-hearted acting in a sensitive environment while redefining the standards of beauty and paving the way for a more open- minded approach.
Marking her Tamil debut with Mehandi Circus, Shweta once again expanded her horizons to play a young circus girl. Portraying a character who stands strong with a smile on her face while knives are thrown at her, Shweta has showcased a mix of emotions with elan and subtlety. A tough character to play, especially since she didn’t know or understand the language, Shweta put in immense hard work to localise herself. Laakhon Mein Ek: Having completed shoot for two upcoming projects, Shweta has had a choc-a-block April, with two releases. Laakhon Mein Ek released on April 12th, where she was seen essaying the role of Dr Shreya Pathare. The first season has been critically acclaimed by reviewers and Shweta has been recognised for her realistic portrayal. Although it is her first ever intense role, she has delivered it impressively. Comments saying “Shweta Tripathi’s performance is heart touching, you can almost feel her stress as she desperately tries to get things done before camp day. She is vulnerable but determined” have been pouring in ever since the release.
