The trend of VFX is going on everywhere from Hollywood to Bollywood. Due to the addition of VFX to the film, the budget of the film doubled. We all are aware of the year 2015 Rajamouli's film 'Baahubali'. A film that broke every record in cinema and after that when 'Bahubali 2: The Conclusion' was released, it seemed as if a storm had come in the cinema industry. This film had earned Rs 1000 crore in India only. This film not only gave box office collection competition to other films but also inspired them to make a good VFX film.
Big-Budget VFX Films: Challenges and Setbacks
After this film, many directors and producers announced big-budget VFX films but after some time those films got shelved. One of these films was 'The Immortal Ashwathama', a film by 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' director Aditya Dhar, which he wanted to make with Vicky Kaushal, but after knowing the cost of VFX, he decided not to make this film yet.
If we talk about those films that were made using high VFX, then it includes Baahubali actor Prabhas's film 'Adipurush' and Ranbir and Alia's film 'Brahmastra'. If we talk about Prabhas's film 'Adipurush', when the teaser of the film came, people did not like the VFX of the film, but despite that the makers released the trailer of the film after some time. Seeing the people's displeasure, the makers improved the VFX of the film, but when the film was released, according to the people's reaction, it was a ridiculous big-budget film. Ranbir-Alia 'Brahmastra' was also not liked much by the people.
Many makers say that VFX is so expensive that many times its quality has to be compromised. The VFX of some of the previous big-budget and big-star films like 'Kalank', 'Ram Sethu', 'Bhuj', and 'Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan' also disappointed audiences. Despite the disappointing performance of these films, many makers are ready to take risks. Among the upcoming big-budget VFX films are, '2898 AD', 'Ramayana', and 'Shaktiman' have been announced. Now it remains to be seen whether these films can show the magic of VFX.
