Kangana Ranaut is leaving no stone unturned to bring out the story of a brave queen alive on big screens as she shoots for Manikarnika- The Queen of Jhansi. However the makers have already clarified that the film is not a biopic, but it seems that after Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat, Manikarnika has irked some group for alleged distortion of facts.
According to reports, right-wing Sarva Brahmin Mahasabha has opposed the film saying that the film has some scenes in the film which shows a love affair between Rani of Jhansi and a British man. The Mahasabha's state president, Suresh Mishra has asked the Rajasthan government on Monday to stop the shoot of the film immediately to prevent historical facts from being distorted in the biographical film about Rani Laxmibai.
Suresh Mishra said, "We will meet Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh and Rajasthan home minister Gulab Chand Kataria seeking their intervention." He further added, "Our sources have told us that the filmmakers are shooting for a love song in which Rani Laxmibai is seen with a British agent of East India Company. We suspect the producers are making the film based on the controversial book 'Rani' written by Jaishree Misra.”
He has reportedly also sent a letter to producer Kamal Jain to share information on the fil,'s writers and historians with whom the producer has discussed the movie. But as of now, they have not received any response from the producer in this regard.
Kangana has earlier shot some scenes at Jaipur's Amer Fort and in the outskirts of Bikaner. The film is currently being shot in Malsisar town in Jhunjhunu.
