NUSHRAT BHARUCHA : I WAS SHORTLISTED FOR 'SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE'

Sonu ke Titu ki Sweety actress, 'Nushrat Bharucha' whose movie got released few days back and is getting a great response from the viewers. The actress has done many movies till now but she is still remembered as the Pyaar ka Punchnama actress or as the 'nagging girlfriend' and she is not at all happy about being just recognised as this. The actress opened up and said she was one of the shortlisted actress for the Oscar-winning film 'Slumdog Millionaire' but got rejected because of her looks.

Nushrat told IANS “I think my image is stuck in other people’s perception. I was one of the shortlisted girls for the female lead of the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire along with Freida Pinto. But I was not finalised because of my looks. Director Danny Boyle's team sat me down and explained that I do not look like a girl coming from slum area. I was told that I am a damn good actor and everything is perfect except the fact that my look doesn't fit the character."

"It happened to me later also. Casting directors said that I look like an urban girl with sharp features. Maybe that is true, but we are living at a time where a lot of advanced make-up techniques are available," she said.

Nushrat is not liking the fact behind this and compared the situation with Shraddha Kapoor, who played the character of Riya Somani as a rich girl and on the other hand played the character of underworld don in Haseena Parker and feels that it is all because she is a star who has achieved mass popularity. The directors are ready to experiment with her but not with Nushrat because she haven't achieved stardom yet.

She think people love to watch her on screen but not her acting talent. In pyaar ka Punchanama she was not defining the brand of the film instead she was adding a value to that and Kartik Aaryan was the most noticed actor and he stood out. And these all are the reason behind why at red carpets and award ceremonies people still recognise her as the Punchnama girl without even knowing her name properly.
